Tie breaker gives Volleys the win
The Oxford Park Commission’s Volleys defeated the Spinners on Thursday thanks to a tie-breaker (fewest games lost).
The Volleys claimed both singles points thanks to wins by Ryan Mounce and Barrett Childress. The Spinners bounced back in the two doubles matches. Will Carter and Cole Grafton claimed the No. 1 doubles match, while Austin Haynes and Eli Abel combined to claim the second doubles match. (October 15, 2010, Page 7A)
Volleys, Spinners tie
Neither the Volleys nor the Spinners could get one-up the other during last Thursday’s Oxford Park Commission’s junior team tennis action, tying 2-2. Anne Hardy earned the lone singles match point for Spinners. Ryan Mounce and Jonathan Masters earned the No. 1 doubles point, while John Tate Roberts and Avery Atkinson earned the No. 3 doubles point for the Volleys. OPC’s Volleys top Spinners
After splitting four tight matches, it came down to fewest games lost and in the end the Oxford Park Commission junior team tennis’ Volleys defeated the Spinners.
Earning wins for the Volleys were Allie Bowen in the No. 1 singles match, and the duo of Barrett Childress and Drew Backstrom in the No. 2 doubles match. Zacarrah Nelms earned the Spinners’ singles point, while Matt Read and Anne Hardy picked up the doubles point. (September 10, 2010, Page 9A)
