HOOVER, Ala. — Ole Miss’ pitching ran out Thursday.
After allowing just two runs in their previous two games combined, the bats caught up to the ninth-seeded Rebels in their 11-2 loss to top-seeded LSU.

After losing to Kentucky 2-0 in their opener, the Ole Miss turned around and defeated Arkansas and preseason SEC Pitcher of the Year D.J. Baxendale 2-0 on Wednesday thanks in large part to the pitching efforts of Mike Mayers and Brett Huber.
Today, the Rebels will face one of the top pitchers in the country when they face off with LSU and right-handed junior Kevin Gausman at 9:30 a.m.

Under a veil of mist and light rain on Sunday the Rebels accomplished what they hadn’t done in weeks, close out an Southeastern Conference series with a win.

After splitting the first two games against No. 4 LSU, the No. 24 Rebels turned to a new starter Sunday for the third consecutive week.
Not only did Dylan Chavez get run from the game prematurely, but Ole Miss struggled to find any pitcher who could consistently put up zeros during the 12-3 loss at Oxford-University Stadium. (May 7, 2012, Page 6)
