Blue Devils top Cougars to make 3A playoffs

WATER VALLEY  — The smile on Kary Bridges’ face said all that needed to be said about Tuesday’s 4-2 win over South Pontotoc at Blue Devil Field. Water Valley’s baseball leader may not have any hair later this week — Bridges made a bet he was to shave his head if his team won — because of the Blue Devils’ most recent 2-3A victory that garnered them a spot in the playoffs, but he likely won’t care.

Greer leads Blue Devils past Troopers

WATER VALLEY — Three nights after being beaten soundly by Division 2-3A rival Mooreville, the Water Valley Blue Devils rebounded behind the pitching of ace Cody Greer and some of the best offense of the season.

Water Valley defeated the Troopers 7-1 Friday night to improve to 3-2 in the division and thanks to a 9-0 win over Bruce on Saturday, is 10-8 overall.

Clement, Devils polish off Bruce

WATER VALLEY — A third straight complete-game effort on the mound highlighted the final game of the Water Valley Spring Break Tournament.
