BASEBALL PREVIEW: Devils enter 2015 with questions at key positions

Water Valley has turned into a regular participant in the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs. Getting back to the postseason is going to require contributions from some new faces in new places. Gone are shortstop Cole Camp and catcher Taylor Smith, who combined for eight years of starting experience before their eligibility ran out. The Blue Devils also have to replace the power of outfielder Dillon Zinn and the pitching of Cody Greer, who sat at the top of Water Valley’s rotation for the last three seasons. (February 23, 2015, Page 6)

Devils finish off sweep of Booneville

BOONEVILLE — On the heels of Cody Greer’s performance in Game 1, Water Valley was looking for another solid outing from Game 2 starter Skyler Defer Friday night. That is exactly what the Blue Devils got as Defer pitched a complete-game shutout in Water Valley’s 4-0 win over Booneville, advancing Water Valley (24-6) to the next round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs. (May 5, 2014, Page 8)

Devils sweep Tigers, clinch region title

The goal was simple for the Water Valley Blue Devils baseball team — win and clinch the Region 2-3A title. The Blue Devils had two opportunities to take care of business hosting a doubleheader against region foe Charleston at the Blue Devil Stadium Friday afternoon.
