Rebs anxious to get practice underway

Mike Bianco has a number of reasons to be anxious for the official start of fall ball this weekend.

The fall ball season offers the Ole Miss head baseball coach the opportunity to begin molding the team without the pressure of facing opponents.

In addition to getting a fresh start after a disappointing season in the spring, the Rebels welcome a plethora of new players — nine of which were drafted but opted to come to Oxford — into the fold. (September 16, 2011, Page 6A)

Bianco hopes to have Morgan back for Vols

The Ole Miss baseball team received good news on Monday regarding the health of closer Jake Morgan.

In a statement released by the university at 11 a.m., Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said Morgan’s MRI came back clean, “but what the x-rays found was some AC joint irritation.” (more…) (March 22, 2011, Page 8)

Rebs’ Hartzog taking it easy until August

After another successful prep season at Hillcrest Christian for Austin Hartzog, the Ole Miss signee is taking a bit of a breather until he reports to Oxford in August.

That doesn’t mean he’s just hanging out, however.

When he’s not fishing (“I love fishing,” he made that clear during a phone interview on Wednesday), he’s playing for the Mississippi Bandits, a travel team based out of Jackson. (June 17, 2010, Page 6)
