Lafayette middle school earned a baseball sweep over Marshall Academy on Thursday. The Commodores won 3-1 and 7-1 to remain in second place in the Tri Lakes Conference standings. Eli Murphree pitched the first game of the doubleheader and finished with six strikeouts against just two hits allowed. Lafayette’s middle school baseball team earned two lopsided 14-0 wins over South Panola Thursday. Both wins were no-hitters for the Commodores, who had four pitchers combine to strike out 19 batters.

Lafayette’s eighth-grade football team earned wins over South Panola and Olive Branch Thursday night.
Eli Murphree shined for the Commodores in the 12-6 win over South Panola and the 18-0 win over the Conquistadors.
He scored on a 32-yard run and a 21-yard run in the win over the Tigers and then scored three touchdowns on runs covering 10-, 40-, and 1-yards in the win over OBHS.
