NEW ALBANY — Lafayette’s run through the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs this past spring seems to be reforming in the annual NEMCABB Championship Tournament. Oxford and Lafayette jump started the round robin portion NEMCABB Tournament in a big way Thursday at Edwin Moak Field.
Lafayette defeated Oxford’s junior varsity squad 6-0 and then defeated South Pontotoc 11-1 in five innings.

Lafayette punctuated the end of the regular season with an 8-6 victory over North Pontotoc under its belt. The win Wednesday afternoon at W.V. Tuesday evening’s loss was a difficult one to swallow for the Lafayette Commodores.
Despite leading for the majority of the game, Lafayette allowed Marshall Academy to rally in the sixth inning and eventually claim a 5-3 victory on Day 2 of the Oxford Spring Break Tournament at Edwin Moak Field.

Oxford baseball coach Chris Baughman held a meeting with his team Wednesday about facing adversity and staying mentally tough.

Pitching and timely hitting propelled the Lafayette Middle School baseball team back into the title game of the Tri-Lakes Conference. Lafayette middle school earned a baseball sweep over Marshall Academy on Thursday. The Commodores won 3-1 and 7-1 to remain in second place in the Tri Lakes Conference standings. Eli Murphree pitched the first game of the doubleheader and finished with six strikeouts against just two hits allowed.
