Chargers cap perfect regular season
Oxford capped off a perfect regular season on the court Monday afternoon with a 7-0 win over Lafayette at Avent Park. The Chargers, now 16-0 heading into the MHSAA Class 5A playoffs, feature a senior class that is 116-2 during their career and Monday’s match with the Commodores was Senior Day. Chargers wrap up Division 2-5A title
Oxford’s trip to New Hope Monday produced two wins over the Trojans in tennis action. The two 7-0 wins not only improved the Chargers to 13-1 overall, but the victories also wrapped up another regular season division title for the Chargers, who finished 6-0 against West Point, Saltillo and New Hope combined. Oxford Chargers begin quest to win fifth straight state title
Oxford’s goal to garner a fifth straight state championship in tennis begins today with a home match against Grenada. OHS coach Louis Nash will try to win the 5A title without the services of four seniors who lead the Chargers to a 116-1 record over the last six years, including four state titles and 11 individual championships. Chargers dominate Saltillo
Oxford’s dominance in tennis continued with a 7-0 win over Saltillo Wednesday in Tupelo. The Chargers (5-0 overall) only lost three points during a match that served as a tuneup before playing in the Meridian Tournament this weekend. (March 24, 2011, Page 7)
Oxford players shine in recent tourney action
Over 100 players from four different states competed in a successful junior tennis tournament hosted by the Oxford Park Commission and Oxford Community Tennis Association.
