QBs, offense lead Blue past Red in Grove Bowl

The margin separating Ole Miss’ three quarterbacks has been so thin, offensive coordinator Dan Werner described it as “ridiculous.” They all got to put on one final spring audition for their coaches in the Grove Bowl on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Rebel coach Hugh Freeze has suspended junior safety Trae Elston for the first half of this Saturday’s game against No. 14 Texas A&M (8 p.m., ESPN) after Elston attempted to kick Alabama running back Kenyan Drake during the second quarter of last week’s 23-17 win over the Crimson Tide (October 7, 2014, Page 6)

The offseason is over. Ole Miss’ football players will report today and hold court with reporters for Media Day before the Rebels begin fall camp Saturday morning.
