ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) — Going up against its best opponent thus far in the season, Ole Miss knew it would have to control the transition game and shoot well. The Rebels weren’t even close.

Rebs win despite second half shooting woes

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team didn’t miss Chris Warren’s scoring at all in the first half of the Rebels’ 60-38 win over Louisiana-Monroe at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum on Friday night.

New-look Rebels host ULM Warhawks

Ole Miss Rebel men’s basketball team will look to start its season off on a good foot with a win over Louisiana-Monroe tonight at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum. Ole Miss defeated North Alabama 91-62 in its lone exhibition game on Nov. 3. In that contest, Ole Miss had several new faces make contributions, while veterans, such as senior Terrance Henry, had positive contributions as well.

Overall Ole Miss returns six lettermen and three starters from a team that finished 20-14 and played in the NIT last year. Louisiana-Monroe finished the 2010-11 season with a 7-24 overall mark. Nelson shines in Rebels’ exhibition win

For a game that wasn’t going to count in the win and loss category, Ole Miss guard Dundrecous Nelson played Thursday night’s exhibition game against North Alabama like the Lions were the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Nelson was easily the most impressive player on the court at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum in a game that the Rebels won 91-62. The sophomore from Jackson, who took a hard fall in a scrimmage with Arkansas-Little Rock two weeks ago, showed the ability to score points (22) as the Rebels’ shooting guard and distribute (nine assists) as a point guard. Overall, Nelson impressed Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy, who needs him to be one of the main players that replaces the scoring of Chris Warren. (November 4, 2011, Page 10A)

OM’s Holloway cleared by SEC

Ole Miss’ men’s basketball team got a huge boost Wednesday when the Southeastern Conference cleared junior forward Murphy Holloway to play this upcoming season. Ole Miss picks up guard from Memphis

Memphis has been a productive city for the Ole Miss men’s basketball program to recruit over the last few seasons. The relationships that coach Andy Kennedy has built with the signings of Terrico White and Reginald Buckner, and the transfer of Jelan Kendrick, have given Memphis prep products a lot of exposure to the Rebels.
