Oxford’s final regular season match of the season ended with a 7-0 win over Pontotoc on Monday. The Chargers made short work of the Warriors thanks to a 6-0, 6-0 win by Zach Wilder at boys singles and a 6-3, 6-0 win by Ann Marie Edlin over Kristen Pennigton. The No. 1 boys doubles team of Baxter Elliott and Robert Nance topped Cam Temmons and Ryan Henry 6-3 6-3, while the No. 2 boys doubles team of Quinn Elliott and Will Swindoll beat Denton McAuley and Brandon Temmons 6-4, 6-0. One year away from the top spot was more than long enough for the Oxford Lady Chargers swim team.
After placing second to Tupelo a year ago, the Lady Chargers reclaimed first in Saturday’s MHSAA State Championship swim meet held at the Biloxi Natatorium, racking up 290.5 points compared to the Golden Wave’s 216. (October 25, 2010, Page 3B)
The Oxford High swim team didn’t fool around this past weekend at the North Half Swim Meet hosted by Clinton High, as the Lady Chargers placed first with 328 points and the Chargers placed fourth with 202 points.
Rounding out the top four spots in the girls rankings were Madison Central (255), Tupelo (254) and St. Joseph Catholic (222). On the boys’ side, Tupelo placed first with 446 points, followed by Madison Central (299.5) and St. Joseph Catholic (208). (October 19, 2010, Page 9)

A day after capturing the overall team state title in Class 5A, the Oxford Chargers won six individual state championships to wrap up an extremely successful trip to the Ridgeland Tennis Center. (May 12, 2010, Page 8)
If there was ever a match that showcased Oxford’s versatility and character as a team during their successive championship seasons it was Monday’s 5-2 win over West Jones.

Oxford’s dominance on the tennis court continued this morning as the Chargers won their third-straight state championship. The Chargers’ latest victim in a winning streak that has now reached 107 matches was West Jones, which defeated Brookhaven 5-2 in the South Half title match.
Oxford, which won the last two titles in Class 4A, defeated the Mustangs 5-1 in a match that lasted just over an hour at the Ridgeland Tennis Center to claim the Class 5A title. (May 10, 2010, Page 1B)
The Chargers (19-0 overall) latest victory earned them their first Class 5A North Half championship pennant and set up one half of Monday’s title match which will be played at 9 a.m. at the Ridgeland Tennis Center against either Brookhaven or West Jones.
