Linzy: The sky is the limit for Lady Chargers

An experienced group, led by standout senior guard Erika Sisk, has Oxford High girls basketball coach Shayne Linzy excited about the upcoming 2011-12 season.

Oxford splits doubleheader with Baldwyn

A new year for the Oxford Lady Chargers basketball squad brought with it an even greater emphasis on playing team ball and yet another victory inspired by unselfish play. Oxford’s girls continued to show balance on offense and defense Monday night by posting a 62-36 win over Baldwyn in the OHS gym. The victory improved the Lady Chargers to 13-1 heading into tonight’s game at Grenada, the only team to have defeated the Lady Chargers this year.

Oxford’s boys didn’t fare as well as the girls, falling 73-53 to the Bearcats in the nightcap. (January 4, 2011, Page 6)

Lady Chargers ‘all about team ball’ this year

Head coach Shayne Linzy doesn’t look at his Oxford Lady Chargers’ roster and see just five starters with a handful of role players.

Linzy, in his second year at Oxford since coming over from Water Valley, said he’s excited about how his roster has shaped up since the summer.

With Linzy’s high-tempo offense, in combination with a deep roster, don’t be surprised to see Oxford essentially using hockey-like line changes this season.

That’s a luxury Linzy loves about his squad. (November 3, 2010, Page 6)
