Hinton, Watkins sign with NWCC

Lafayette’s Anna Watkins and Amanda Hinton extended their soccer careers Tuesday by signing letters of intent to play for Northwest Mississippi Community College and coach Peter Jarjoura.

Both girls felt comfortable about playing for the Lady Rangers and coach Jarjoura, as well as the new teammates they met during their official visit this three weeks ago. (December 8, 2010, Page 8)

Pontotoc takes two games from LHS

Monday was a tough night on the pitch for the Lafayette soccer program. Both the Commodores and Lady Commodores got behind early and were unable to bounce back, as the boys lost 9-0 and the girls lost 5-1.

The key to the Warriors’ victory was capitalizing on odd-man chances.

More often than not Pontotoc’s boys were able to get consistent pressure on Lafayette’s defense and in doing so controlled the pace and flow of the game. (December 7, 2010, Page 8)
