The Oxford gym provided a rocking atmosphere Friday for Senior Night.
Another great team effort produced a 71-32 win over Grenada for the Oxford Lady Chargers Tuesday night. Erika Sisk led the way with 16 points and eight steals, while Kristen Dickerson and Alexus Malone scored 15 and 10 points respectively. Oxford improved to 25-0 with the win. The Lady Chargers’ junior varsity team also produced a win. Bre Pettis scored 13 points in the 33-13 win. The JV girls finished the year 7-1 overall. Both Oxford varsity teams finish out the regular season Friday night at home against Coldwater. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. (February 2, 2012, Page 8)
Region championships are something the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers are used to winning, so Friday’s accomplishments are no surprise.

Oxford’s varsity basketball teams earned two region wins over Saltillo on Tuesday night. The Lady Chargers remained undefeated and grabbed a share of the regular season region title with a 91-49 win over the Lady Tigers. Tuesday’s nightcap involving the Oxford Chargers and Lafayette Commodores literally came down to one play. In a game that was as emotionally charged as any recent contest between Lafayette and Oxford on the basketball court, it was the Chargers who got the better of the Commodores in a 55-53 win in the LHS gym. Fast only partial describes the way the Oxford Lady Chargers looked and played in the first half of their 70-49 win over North Panola in their first game of the “O” Town Showdown Wednesday night. Oxford’s energy, merged with its fantastic full-court press on defense, was smothering to the Lady Cougars, who found themselves down 30 points (35-5) at end of the first quarter.
