No. 4 LSU blasts No. 24 Rebels to win series

It appears the Rebels aren’t done searching for a Sunday starter.

After splitting the first two games against No. 4 LSU, the No. 24 Rebels turned to a new starter Sunday for the third consecutive week.

Not only did Dylan Chavez get run from the game prematurely, but Ole Miss struggled to find any pitcher who could consistently put up zeros during the 12-3 loss at Oxford-University Stadium. (May 7, 2012, Page 6)

Rebels say losses have not made them tight

Three weeks in which the Ole Miss Rebels have a chance to win a Southeastern Conference series but come up short can be draining on a team.

Nonetheless, Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco maintained that the team isn’t compounding things with any mental issues on Sundays. (May 7, 2012, Page 7)

No. 24 Rebels wash away Murray State

It was far from pretty, but the No. 24 Rebels came away from Wednesday’s non-conference game with a lopsided win.

OM’s Laxer unleashes on USM

PEARL — Josh Laxer looked like a completely different pitcher Tuesday.
Prior to Tuesday’s game, Ole Miss pitching coach Carl Lafferty sat the  former Madison Central product down to have a talk.
The freshman had not had the ideal start to his collegiate career, allowing 10 earned runs and five walks in 16.1 innings.
Lafferty told Laxer to let loose. Remember how you pitched for the Jaguars, Lafferty asked. Pitch like that. (May 2, 2012, Page 6)

Yarbrough sees hitting streak halted Sunday

STARKVILLE—Alex Yarbrough saw his hitting streak come to an end at 22 games Sunday following an 0-for-4 performance against the Bulldogs at Dudy Noble Field.

The Rebel second baseman struck out, grounded out to the pitcher and flew out to center field against MSU starter Luis Pollorena before flying out to right against closer Caleb Reed in the eighth. (April 30, 2012, Page 7)
