Well-rested Rebels have important games remaining

Most projections have the Diamond Rebels safely in the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Hoover, Ala., and in the NCAA Tournament, but for those forecasts to come to fruition, Ole Miss still needs to take care of business.

After having a blank mid-week slate this week due to exams, the Rebels return to action today to host Tennessee in a best-of-three series at Oxford-University Stadium.

First pitch tonight is set for 6:30, while Saturday is set for a 4 p.m. start and Sunday’s game will start at 1:30 p.m. (May 11, 2012, Page 6A)

No. 4 LSU blasts No. 24 Rebels to win series

It appears the Rebels aren’t done searching for a Sunday starter.

After splitting the first two games against No. 4 LSU, the No. 24 Rebels turned to a new starter Sunday for the third consecutive week.

Not only did Dylan Chavez get run from the game prematurely, but Ole Miss struggled to find any pitcher who could consistently put up zeros during the 12-3 loss at Oxford-University Stadium. (May 7, 2012, Page 6)

No. 24 Rebels wash away Murray State

It was far from pretty, but the No. 24 Rebels came away from Wednesday’s non-conference game with a lopsided win.

OM’s Laxer unleashes on USM

PEARL — Josh Laxer looked like a completely different pitcher Tuesday.
Prior to Tuesday’s game, Ole Miss pitching coach Carl Lafferty sat the  former Madison Central product down to have a talk.
The freshman had not had the ideal start to his collegiate career, allowing 10 earned runs and five walks in 16.1 innings.
Lafferty told Laxer to let loose. Remember how you pitched for the Jaguars, Lafferty asked. Pitch like that. (May 2, 2012, Page 6)
