OXFORD TOWN – Artist, musician and “Champion of misfits” Jon Langford is set for performances and art exhibitions all over Oxford this weekend, beginning with Thacker Mountain Radio tonight (Thursday, March 1) at Off Square Books. Pages 7 and 12 in Oxford Town No. 968 has tons of  information about the native Welshman who now calls Chicago home. And, if you can’t make the TMR broadcast this evening, plan to hit Two Stick on Friday, March 2, for an acoustic performance by Langford who is in town supporting an exhibit of his works at Southside Gallery. (March 1, 2012, Page 7, 12)

Alejandro’s Back!

OXFORD TOWN – Alejandro Escovedo returns to Oxford next Tuesday (Sept. 14)  for  a Larry Brown tribute set and discussion at Off Square Books at 5 p.m. followed by a full concert at Proud Larry’s later that night. Oxford EAGLE News Editor Jonathan Scott talked to Escovedo about the shows, his new album titled “Street Songs of Love” and Oxford, one of his favorite cities in which to visit and perform. “Street Songs of Love” features “high powered vocal support” from legends such as Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople and Bruce Springsteen. Pages 10 and 11 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town has Jon Scott’s very special coverage of what will be a very special show at Proud Larry’s next Tuesday. (September 9, 2010, Page 10, 11)
