Blue Devils run-rule Dragons

WATER VALLEY — The Blue Devils’ baseball team bounced back from its disappointing weekend in a big way on Monday.

Wildcats crash Water Valley’s Homecoming

WATER VALLEY — After throttling their opponents to the tune of 105-0 in their first two games of the season, the Water Valley Blue Devils were humbled Friday, losing to Calhoun City 16-14 at Bobby Clark field.

Oxford’s Dean earns Player of Week honor

A win is what the Oxford Chargers needed to garner last Friday night at Charleston. After losing a tough opener to Grenada on the road, the Chargers could ill afford another setback heading into this week’s Crosstown Classic at Lafayette.

Thanks to an improved effort across the board, and specifically the running of senior Mont Dean, the Chargers were able to defeat Charleston 38-25 to earn that coveted first victory. (more…) (August 30, 2011, Page 8)

Devils unable to keep up with Troopers

A return trip to Jackson to play in the MHSAA’s Class 3A title series was not in the cards for the Water Valley Blue Devils this season. A year after winning the Class 3A North Half title and playing Sumrall in Pearl at the state championship series, the Blue Devils were defeated by Mooreville in the quarterfinals on Saturday night. WVHS Blue Devils roll through to Round 2

A week of waiting to find out who the Water Valley Blue Devils would play in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs was answered Monday morning. After deliberations with the MHSAA over the weekend failed to produce an opponent, word came mid-morning that Leflore County would be the No. 3 seed to play the Blue Devils. Blue Devils pound their way to win

An opportunity to defend their Class 3A North Half title is what the Water Valley Blue Devils earned on Friday with their 13-2 win over South Pontotoc at Blue Devil Field. Paced by an offense that collected three home runs and 11 hits total in five innings, WVHS secured a spot in the upcoming 3A playoffs with the one-sided win over the Cougars. Blue Devils fall to Winona

Winona was able to defeat Water Valley for the first time in division play Friday with a 5-4 win in eight innings over the Blue Devils baseball team.

Drew Pratt was saddled with the loss. Walt McCullough led the Blue Devils at the plate with a home run, double and a single. Cole Camp had two singles, while Adam Langham had a double. WVHS will be back in action with Winona on Tuesday starting with a junior varsity game at 5 p.m. (March 28, 2011, Page 2B)

Blue Devils down Biggersville

The Water Valley baseball team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 6-5 win over Biggersville in the Oxford Spring Break Tournament on Wednesday. Drew Pratt earned the win for the Blue Devils on the mound, while Walt McCullough earned the save. J.D. Fondon had a home run in the victory, while Adam Langham and John Michael Grimmett each had two hits. One of Langham hits was a double. WVHS will be back in action today against DeSoto Central. (March 17, 2011, Page 8)
