Pumpkin Patch Telling

The North Mississippi Storytellers Guild will circle up at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the Parish Hall of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church to share ghostly tales and songs for its annual Pumpkin Patch Telling. India Night

India Night 2011, “Jai Ho,” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gertrude Castellow Ford Center on the campus of the University of Mississippi. India Night is a major annual event organized by the Indian Students Association of Ole Miss. It showcases classical and popular Indian dance and music through a variety of performances. Performances will be featured by Ole Miss students as well as by students from the community and other universities. After the two-hour of performances, delicious Indian cuisine, featuring a variety of flavors is served. Everyone in the community is invited to come out and enjoy a night filled with captivating performances, beautiful music and authentic cuisine. ‘Swan Lake’

The Russian National Ballet is bringing its acclaimed production of “Swan Lake” to the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts for one show Friday. The show is set for 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 to $28 for various seating. Tickets are available by calling 915-7411, by visiting the UM Box Office in the Student Union from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays or the Ford Center Box Office beginning at 10 a.m. the day of the show, or by going to www.fordcenter.org. (March 1, 2011)

Uganda in Dance, Music, Images

Mississippi: The Dance Company presents “The Uganda Project: Come & See – Go & Tell,” Thursday through Sunday at Fulton Chapel on the University of Mississippi campus.

This multi-media dance performance is a collaboration between Professor Jennifer Mizenko and Assistant Professor of Art Brooke White. Both Mizenko and White have traveled to Uganda on humanitarian missions, and will be collaborating together to bring that experience to the stage in dance, music and photography. This evening-length work between the Department of Theatre Arts and the Department of Art will expose the audience to the heart and soul of Uganda — its beauty, its complexity, its people and especially its children.

Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10.50 for adults, $8.50 for children and seniors and $7 for UM students. (February 16, 2011)

‘Wizard of Oz”

The Oxford High School Theater Department will stage a production of “The Wizard of Oz” at 7:30 this evening and Saturday night and at 3 p.m. Sunday, all in the OHS auditorium. Tickets are $8 and are available at the door. (February 11, 2011)

‘Kringle’s Window’

Theatre Oxford presents “Kringle’s Window” for four performances at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center. The play runs Friday through Sunday. Tickets may be purchased at the Powerhouse, at the door or on the Theatre Oxford website (www.theatreoxford.com). Tickets are $12 adults, $10 students and seniors; $6 children 12 years and under. Tickets purchased prior to the show date qualify for a reduced rate. Performance day and times are: Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 p.m.

The play by Mark Medoff centers on two sisters, in the midst of family strife, who are mysteriously visited by a magical guest. Together, they journey through cyber-space to discover if Santa actually exists, and if he can grant their Christmas wish. ‘A Symphony of Spirituals’

The Grace Notes Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church presents Joseph Garrison, organist, and Andrew Gordon, pianist, at noon Wednesday. Following the concert, a complimentary lunch will be served in Fellowship Hall. “A Symphony of Spirituals,” by composer Joel Raney, was written to showcase the symphonic nature of the organ and to stretch the usual limits of the organ-piano duet genre. (December 3, 2010)

Holiday Choral Concert
