Fundraisers

OMS Chorus Fundraiser

The OMS Chorus holiday meat fundraiser has begun. Enjoy fresh-smoked meats this holiday season from Taylor Grocery while supporting the Oxford Middle School Chorus. Smoked Boston Butts (averaging 8 to 10 pounds) are $25 each. Smoked Boneless Brown Sugar-Peppered Hams (averaging 8 to 10 pounds) are $45 each.

Money is taken in advance with the order. You can place an order with Damien D. Wash, director of choral music at OMS, via e-mail, dwash@oxford.k12.ms.us, or see any OMS chorus member. Make checks payable to Oxford Middle School. The pick up day will be Dec. 10 from 3 until 4:30 p.m. in the OMS parking lot. If someone needs special pick-up arrangements or a special delivery, let Wash know in advance. (November 18, 2010)

Holiday House Arts and Crafts Show

The Mississippi Homemakers Volunteers of Lafayette County will hold its annual Holiday House Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the National Guard Armory/Oxford Conference Center on Ed Perry Boulevard. Holiday House will have demonstrations, door prizes, a silent auction, MHV cookbooks, tea room and Christmas Carols. Vendors will be selling a variety of arts and crafts. Christmas Boxes for Soldiers

Blue Star Moms of Mississippi will meet at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Family Life Center at North Oxford Baptist Church to send Christmas Boxes to soldiers serving overseas. Arrangements can be made to pick up donations or donations may be dropped off at the Family Life Center between 10 a.m. and noon Nov. 20. (November 12, 2010)

Car show

Local veteran associations will be holding a Show and Shine car, truck and motorcycle Jamboree at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans Building on Veterans Drive, across from the State Veterans Home. Proceeds will benefit the Veterans Memorial Park.

A $15 fee will be charged to register a vehicle. Registration begins at 9 a.m. A live band will perform and food and drinks will be available to purchase. The Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legions and Disabled American Veterans will be taking orders for Boston butts for $30.
