Red Cross Community Classes

The American Red Cross will offer an adult, child and infant CPR community class on Monday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The cost of this class is $35. The Red Cross will also offer an adult, child and infant CPR/AED/First Aid community class on Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost of this class is $50. All classes are held at the Red Cross office, 106 Skyline Drive. Interested participants should contact the Red Cross office at 236-1282 to register. Pre-registration is required for these classes. (November 11, 2010)

Scholarship fundraiser

Oxford Training School/Central High School will host a yard sale and fish fry from 7 a.m. until Saturday at the OTS house at South 16th Street Extended. The fish fry will last from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds will support the OTS/CHS scholarship program. (November 11, 2010)

Double Decker Bus Tour

Trained docents will lead guided Double Decker bus tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday. The tours will go through Oxford and the University of Mississippi. Tickets can be purchased at Oxford City Hall prior to the tour or the day of the tour beginning at 10 a.m. in Skipwith Cottage. Tickets are $5 for adults, and $2 for children 12 and under. Kennon Observatory Open House

The Kennon Observatory will host a free open house from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday on the Ole Miss campus. Attendees will be able to use telescopes to observe the Moon, Uranus, Neptune and Jupiter, as well as the Pleiades, star clusters and colorful double stars. Observations are possible only if the weather cooperates. In case the weather is cloudy, or rainy, there can be no observation. Families and children are welcome. (November 10, 2010)

Medieval Faire

The senior class of Oxford High School will hold its 11th annual Medieval Faire from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday. The faire will be held on the front lawn of the high school and everyone is welcome. (November 8, 2010)

OMS choir fall concert

The Oxford Middle School choirs, including the Mixed Chorus, Cantabilé and sixth-grade Singers, will present a free fall concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in Paris Yates Chapel on the Ole Miss Campus. Damein D. Wash is the director and Joseph Garrison will be the accompanist. (November 5, 2010)

Della Davidson Book Fair

Della Davidson’s Square Books Junior Book Fair will be Sunday through Thursday. A special event will be held at Square Books Junior on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For Della Day, 20 percent of all purchases will go to Della Davidson Elementary School if you identify yourself as a Della Book Fair shopper. Family night at Della Book Fair will be Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Della Davidson library. Free gift wrapping will be available at all events. Refreshments will also be provided. Regular fair hours at the school will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday next week. (November 5, 2010)

Oxford School Bond Referendum

Oxford School District voters will weigh in Tuesday on whether to support the effort to expand district facilities, including the construction of a new high school, by voting on a $30 million bond issue. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Oxford Activity Center. (October 22, 2010)

Regents’ Autumn Fair

Regents School of Oxford invites everyone to its Autumn Fair from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. The fair will feature old-fashioned activities such as hay rides, pumpkin bowling, cake walks and face-painting. (October 22, 2010)

Bramlett Octoberfest

Bramlett Elementary School will have its annual Octoberfest on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is $5 at the door. A few of the many features at Octoberfest are games, prizes, concessions, door prizes, cake walk, moon bounce, dunking booth, face painting and art auction. (October 22, 2010)
