Oxford Civic Chorus

The Oxford Civic Chorus will present “Hooray for Hollywood” on May 9 at 7 p.m. at North Oxford Baptist Church. This concert will feature favorite songs from well-known movies (1930’s to today). The Oxford Civic Chorus is an excellent group of musicians from a variety of backgrounds and occupations, hailing from Oxford and the entire North Mississippi area. Membership is by audition only. Fish Fry Fundraiser

Joyful Generation of Anchor Baptist Church will hold its annual fish fry and auction from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, with the live auction beginning at 5:30. Plates are available for an $8 donation and includes fish, fries, slaw, dessert and drink. Carry-outs will be available. Items being auctioned off will include a handmade quilt, a signed football and baseball, household items and gift cards. Door prizes will be given out every 15 minutes. Homemade cakes and pies will also be available to purchase. The church is located on Highway 7 South in Water Valley. (March 31, 2011)

India Night

India Night 2011, “Jai Ho,” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gertrude Castellow Ford Center on the campus of the University of Mississippi. India Night is a major annual event organized by the Indian Students Association of Ole Miss. It showcases classical and popular Indian dance and music through a variety of performances. Performances will be featured by Ole Miss students as well as by students from the community and other universities. After the two-hour of performances, delicious Indian cuisine, featuring a variety of flavors is served. Everyone in the community is invited to come out and enjoy a night filled with captivating performances, beautiful music and authentic cuisine. Lafayette County Board of Supervisors

The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lafayette County Chancery Building to discuss various issues, including Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi’s proposal to build a new hospital. (March 14, 2011)

Oxford Emmaus, Cursillo Community

The Oxford Emmaus and Cursillo Community will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Oxford-University United Methodist Church for a potluck dinner and a program. (March 14, 2011)

Eastside MHV Club

Oxford Planning Commission canceled

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Oxford Planning Commission which was set for today at 5 p.m. has been canceled. A new special meeting date has been set for March 29 at 5 p.m. in the Oxford High School Commons. Site plans for the new Oxford High School will be reviewed at a public hearing. American Legion

Members of American Legion Post 55 will meet Thursday. Supper and fellowship will be at 6 p.m., followed by the business meeting at 7. All Veterans are invited. (March 9, 2011)

Oxford Park Commission

Grief Support Group
