Spring Break Youth Revival

Pastor Eddie Goliday Sr. and the Clear Creek Missionary Baptist Church family will host Spring Break Youth Revival/Vacation Bible School, March 15 – 19, beginning at 6 p.m. nightly. All families are invited to attend. If you need a ride, contact Carolyn Brassell at 662-701-9085. (March 2, 2010)

Children’s Audition: ‘The King & I’

Julia and Robert Aubrey will audition children from ages 8 – 13 for chorus roles in the Oxford Shakespeare Festival’s production of The King and I. Auditions will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Nutt Auditorium on Saturday, March 27.

Children are asked to prepare a short song and be dressed comfortably to participate in music and theatre games. If needed, callbacks will start at 1 that afternoon.

There are two leading roles for boys ages 10 – 14, as Louis and the Prince.  These characters sing and have spoken dialogue in the musical.

Children’s concert

Wednesday, March 10, 11:30 a.m. at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Mississippi. The program will feature Giuseppe Verdi’s “Overture to Les Vespres Sciliennes,” Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” and Don Freund’s “Three Preludes.” Admission is free to area school children. Part of a series of orchestra concerts especially for students in elementary grades. The programs, under the direction of Ronald Vernon, featuring faculty and advanced student performers, are drawn from the Music Department’s regular-season programming, but with special introductions and commentary designed to help young people understand and appreciate the music. (February 26, 2010)
