Spring Book Fair

Bramlett Elementary School Library is hosting its annual Spring Book Fair, Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. A large selection of books are available from Scholastic Book Fairs. You can help build teachers’ classroom collections through the Wish List program. Everyone is invited. (March 4, 2011)

Author reading, signing

Reading program

Oxford Rotary Club

Meets at noon Tuesday at the Oxford University Club. Curtis Wilkie, Overby Fellow and Kelly G. Cook Chair of Journalism, will speak about his most recent book, “The Fall of the House of Zeuss.” (February 4, 2011)

Book Signing

Daisy Karam-Read, author of the popular “From Manhattan to Mississippi: A New Yorker Falls in Love with the South,” is coming to Oxford to promote her new book, “The Love Affair Continues: From Manhattan to Mississippi Part Two.” Karam-Read, whose first book was on the South Mississippi Barnes & Noble best seller list 20 times, will sign copies of her latest book at the Ole Miss bookstore on campus Saturday from noon until 6 p.m. The bookstore is located in the Student Union Building, overlooking The Grove. Book Signing 

Walt Grayson, veteran WLBT-TV broadcaster and host of ‘Mississippi Roads’ on Mississippi Public Broadcasting, is coming to Oxford to promote his latest book “—Oh. That Reminds Me. More Homegrown Mississippi Stories with Walt Grayson.” The Greenville native will sign copies of the just-published third book for buyers at Old Taylor Antiques on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. And the public is invited.

The event will include a guided tour of the Old Taylor Antiques Victorian-era show house, located 4.5 miles south of the Highway 6 Bridge on Old Taylor Road, to be conducted by owners Jimmy and Jennifer Yancy. For more information, call 234-9797. (November 16, 2010)

Cookbook signing

Authors Elizabeth Gourlay Heiskell and Susanne Young Reed will sign their new cookbook/memoir, “Somebody Stole the Cornbread From My Dressing” at Off Square Books from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday. (November 8, 2010)

Harry Potter Party

The Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library will host a Harry Potter Party at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for kids ages 5 and older. The party will feature Hogwarts trivia, a character contest and other events. Those who want to participant in this free event must pre-register. Della Davidson Book Fair

Della Davidson’s Square Books Junior Book Fair will be Sunday through Thursday. A special event will be held at Square Books Junior on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For Della Day, 20 percent of all purchases will go to Della Davidson Elementary School if you identify yourself as a Della Book Fair shopper. Family night at Della Book Fair will be Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Della Davidson library. Free gift wrapping will be available at all events. Refreshments will also be provided. Regular fair hours at the school will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday next week. (November 5, 2010)

Halloween Story Time

The Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library will host a Halloween Story Time at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. On Friday, the library will hold its annual Halloween costume contest and party at 10:30 a.m. (October 27, 2010)
