WATER VALLEY — The smile on Kary Bridges’ face said all that needed to be said about Tuesday’s 4-2 win over South Pontotoc at Blue Devil Field. Water Valley’s baseball leader may not have any hair later this week — Bridges made a bet he was to shave his head if his team won — because of the Blue Devils’ most recent 2-3A victory that garnered them a spot in the playoffs, but he likely won’t care.

WATER VALLEY — Three nights after being beaten soundly by Division 2-3A rival Mooreville, the Water Valley Blue Devils rebounded behind the pitching of ace Cody Greer and some of the best offense of the season.
Water Valley defeated the Troopers 7-1 Friday night to improve to 3-2 in the division and thanks to a 9-0 win over Bruce on Saturday, is 10-8 overall.
The Water Valley baseball team lost at Mantachie 7-2 on Tuesday. Skyler Defer was hit with the loss for the Blue Devils. Cooper Clement, Austin Smith, Dillon Zinn, Carson Sharp and Defer all had hits for the Blue Devils. (more…) (March 27, 2013, Page 9)
