WVHS preparing for tough series against Booneville
If everything pans out as many think, then this week’s Class 3A North Half baseball championship series between the Water Valley Blue Devils and Booneville should be a good one.
The two evenly matched teams will square off against one another starting Thursday at 6 p.m. in Booneville. The winner of the best-of-three series will then represent the North in the MHSAA’s 3A title series against either perennial power Sumrall or Forest, who will battle for the South Half title on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Clean sweep: WVHS headed to North Half
Two of the most complete games of the season have propelled the Water Valley Blue Devils back into the North Half title series.

Blue Devils open 3A playoffs with a win
Bittersweet was the word used by Water Valley coach Doug Robbins to describe his Blue Devils’ 5-3 win over Independence in their first game of Class 3A best-of-three playoff series Thursday night.
The Blue Devils (18-6 overall) used a solid, if not spectacular, pitching performance by Josh Johnson to hold the Wildcats at bay long enough for their offense to score the bulk of their runs late. (April 30, 2010, Page 7A)

It was no secret that the Nettleton Lady Tigers softball team was a good team.
