Blue Devils draw ‘very athletic’ Kemper County squad in playoff opener

The Water Valley Blue Devils ended the regular season with four straight wins and were rewarded for their effort. The Blue Devils (7-4, 4-1 Region 2-3A) finished runner-up behind Charleston in Region 2-3A for the second straight year. That No. 2 playoff seed means Water Valley will host the Kemper County Wildcats (8-3, 3-2 Region 4-3A) in the opening round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs Friday night at Bobby Clark Field. (November 6, 2014, Page 6A)

    WVHS cruises past Dragons in season finale

    WATER VALLEY – Water Valley did exactly what it should’ve done Thursday night. Quarterback Jonathan Kent accounted for three touchdowns, the defense produced some points of its own, and the Blue Devils continued their surge toward the postseason with a 44-8 rout of Marks Palmer on Senior Night at Bobby Clark Field.n The win gave the Blue Devils (7-4, 4-1 Region 2-3A) their fourth straight entering next week’s MHSAA Class 3A playoffs after a 3-4 start. It also capped a winless season for Marks Palmer (0-9, 0-5), which lost by at least 20 points for the seventh time in nine games. (October 31, 2014, Page 6A)

        Blue Devils look to continue winning ways tonight against Dragons

        Water Valley is playing some of its best football when it matters. The Blue Devils are riding their first-three game winning streak all season and used a 27-13 win over Independence to clinch a spot in next month’s MHSAA Class 3A playoffs. The string of wins has Water Valley sitting at second in the Region 2-3A standings, and although the Blue Devils can’t win the region, they can assure themselves of a home playoff game with a win in the regular-season finale tonight against Marks Palmer at Bobby Clark Field. (October 30, 2014, Page 6A)

                Devils look to continue push toward playoffs

                Things are looking up for the Water Valley Blue Devils. Water Valley is on its first two-game winning streak of the season and controls its own destiny in regards to reaching the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs.
