Conard stands out at Tupelo combine

Those in attendance at last weekend’s Scout.com football combine at Tupelo High saw first hand what the Water Valley coaching staff has been saying for years: Chris Conard is a legit talent.

    Cotton States League to open season on Saturday

    The BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League is scheduled to start their third season Saturday with a triple-header beginning at 1 p.m. Several changes are in store for the collegiate wood bat league which plays its games at Legion Field at the New Albany Sportsplex.       Water Valley’s Phillips in all-star game

      Water Valley senior and Mississippi State signee Ashley Phillips has been selected to play in the Northeast Mississippi Coaches Association softball and basketball All-Star games that will be held in June. The softball game will be June 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tupelo. The basketball game will be held on June 4 at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. (May 25, 2011, Page 7)

        Blue Devils in all-star game

        Water Valley senior Fred McGee will play in next month’s Northeast Mississippi Coaches Basketball Association All-Star game. The contest will be held on June 4 at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. McGee is the second Blue Devil chosen for the game joining teammate Matt Dalton on the roster. (May 25, 2011, Page 7)

          Tank Hervey named to MACJC All-State team

                Water Valley’s rally falls short

                NETTLETON — The Lady Blue Devils’ rally was too little, too late on Thursday evening at James Malone Field.

                After falling behind early, the Water Valley softball team was unable recover in time before eventually losing to the Nettleton Lady Tigers 6-1 in Game 1 of the second round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs. (more…) (May 6, 2011, Page 8A)

                  WVHS prepared to face Troopers

                  The wait is over and Water Valley finally has an opponent for its third round matchup in the Class 3A playoffs.

                  After postponing their Game Three for two days due to weather, the Mooreville Troopers up-ended Independence on the road 7-0 to earn the right to face the Blue Devils in a three-game series beginning on Friday. (more…) (May 5, 2011, Page 7)

                    Rangers to host East Central

                    The Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers will host a first-round MACJC baseball playoff series this weekend in Senatobia. NWCC, the co-champions in the North Division, host East Central, the No. 3 seed from the south, Friday at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday that begins at noon. The winner of the best-of-three series will then advance to the state championships May 12-14. Admission to the weekend series is $5 for adults, children 12 and under and all Northwest faculty, staff and students will be admitted for free. (more…) (May 5, 2011, Page 7)
