The Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers will host a first-round MACJC baseball playoff series this weekend in Senatobia. NWCC, the co-champions in the North Division, host East Central, the No. 3 seed from the south, Friday at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday that begins at noon. The winner of the best-of-three series will then advance to the state championships May 12-14. Whoever faces the Water Valley Blue Devils in the next round of the MHSAA Class 3A baseball playoffs take warning: You’re going to need a bigger boat.
Paced by a potent offensive attack, the Blue Devils defeated the Kossuth Aggies 10-8 Friday night at Kossuth and went on to sweep the series Saturday with a 10-3 win at Blue Devil Field to advance to the third round. Three former area high school baseball players helped lift the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers to a share of the MACJC North Division title on Saturday.
