With the season opener against Jacksonville State a little less than a month away, the Ole Miss football team has wasted no time hitting the practice field and slowly but surely the Rebels are getting their newcomers onto the field. The latest addition was freshman receiver Vincent Sanders.

So today wasn’t exactly the first official day of Ole Miss football, but it’s close. Today was the first day newcomers were required to be on campus and Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt addressed the media at the Indoor Practice Facility to discuss the youngins, Jeremiah Masoli and more. Brown commitment makes No. 14 for Rebels
Thursday night the Rebels picked up their seventh commitment of the week, and their 14th for the 2011 signing class, in the form of Arkansas cornerback/running back Artez Brown.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound athlete is considered a three-star athlete by Rivals.com and a two-star cornerback by Scout.com. The Newport,Ar., native picked Ole Miss over Arkansas, Arkansas State, Baylor, Memphis, Kansas and Tulsa.
As a junior, Brown had 1,406 yards and 16 touchdowns rushing. He also recorded over 50 tackles and three interceptions on defense. (July 23, 2010)
UPDATED: Rebels net three more commitments
What a day it’s been for the Ole Miss gridiron Rebels. This morning Pascagoula cornerback (and standout center fielder) Senquez Golson committed to the Rebels.
Later this afternoon, Ole Miss picked up its second commitment of the day — and 12th for the 2010 signing class — when Gadsden City, Ala. receiver T.J. Worthy pledged his verbal commitment to the Rebels. Just before 7 p.m. the Rebels picked up their third commitment of the day, this time from Raleigh defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton.

Just one day after landing Raleigh receiver Donte Moncrief, the Rebels added another commitment for the 2011 signing class. According to The Blog’s friends over at OMSpirit.com and RebelGrove.com, Taylorsville outside linebacker Marcus Mayers committed to Ole Miss this morning.
