SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — Lafayette’s Commodores made sure they got another bus trip to Amory by defeating the Panthers 4-3 Saturday night at W.V. Brewer Field. STARKVILLE — For the second game in a row Rebel runs and Mississippi State fielding errors were not in short supply, as the Rebels capitalized on 15 hits and four errors to claim the 19-11 win at MSU’s Dudy Noble Field.
The game was halted after the seventh inning due to a severe thunderstorm warning in the area.
With the win, Ole Miss claims its first three-game sweep of MSU since 2005, and it’s first in Starkville since ’72.

STARKVILLE —On what turned out to be a rain-soaked Dudy Noble Field, it was the Ole Miss baseball Rebels that found a way to overcome the elements and take Game 2 of their series at Mississippi State, defeating the Bulldogs 12-10.
