TUSCALOOSA — What a difference a year can make. Last year, Alabama pitcher Jimmy Nelson was the goat on Friday night for the Crimson Tide, blowing a two-run lead in the ninth to lose 8-7.
Fast-forward a year, and it’s hard to believe Nelson could have pitched any better.
On Saturday, the Alabama junior pitched what both he and head coach Mitch Gaspard termed his best outing of the season, silencing Ole Miss’ bats in their 4-1 victory.

Water Valley’s Montez Clark and Justin McCammon could be the top two finishers in the shot put at today’s Class 3A state meet in Pearl. Clark finished first in the Region 2-3A meet and recently won the 3A North Half title. Against the Ole Miss Rebels, Arkansas pitcher Mike Bolsinger pitched like the Friday night ace he had been up until about four weeks ago.
The right-hander allowed no runs on two hits and three walks while striking out a career-high 11 batters in 8.0 innings to lead the Razorbacks to a lopsided 7-0 win on Sunday at Oxford-University Stadium.

After apparently re-aggravating his left shoulder during an at-bat on Friday against Arkansas, Ole Miss sophomore designated hitter Matt Snyder has not started in Saturday or Sunday’s games.
