So today wasn’t exactly the first official day of Ole Miss football, but it’s close. Brassell in no rush to make college choice
The Ole Miss football team had high school seniors practically banging down the door to the Indoor Practice Facility last week, but if the Rebels want the signature of one of the top two-way players in the country, they’re going to have to wait a while longer.
Nickalos Brassell, the speedy cornerback/receiver from South Panola, is in no rush to decide his future and said last week that he plans on going through the whole recruiting process and does not plan on committing to a college until his senior season is over. (July 28, 2010, Page 8)
Brown commitment makes No. 14 for Rebels
Thursday night the Rebels picked up their seventh commitment of the week, and their 14th for the 2011 signing class, in the form of Arkansas cornerback/running back Artez Brown.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound athlete is considered a three-star athlete by Rivals.com and a two-star cornerback by Scout.com. The Newport,Ar., native picked Ole Miss over Arkansas, Arkansas State, Baylor, Memphis, Kansas and Tulsa.
As a junior, Brown had 1,406 yards and 16 touchdowns rushing. He also recorded over 50 tackles and three interceptions on defense. (July 23, 2010)

How much abuse can a high schooler take on the gridiron? Madison Central receiver Tobias Singleton is about to find out.
One year after losing to South Panola in the Class 6A North Half title game, and being ranked No. 1 in Mississippi for most of the season, Jaguars coach Bobby Hall thinks his squad can be even better in 2010.
Despite losing 19 starters — two of which are Ole Miss signees Carlton Martin and Bryon Bennett — Hall feels confident his squad can once again make a deep run in the playoffs.
Perhaps the most important player on the Jaguars this season is none other than Singleton, who is considered one of the top recruits in Mississippi.
Just how important is Singleton to the Jaguars’ projected success? He’s so important, that the Jaguars plan to get the ball in his hands at least 20 times a game, whether it be as a receiver, returner on special teams or quarterbacking Madison Central’s wildcat formation.

Golson highlights busy day for Rebels

Wednesday morning, Senquez Golson made official what he’s known for several weeks when he called defensive line coach Terry Price to inform him that he wants to play for the Ole Miss Rebels. (July 22, 2010, Page 1B)
UPDATED: Rebels net three more commitments
What a day it’s been for the Ole Miss gridiron Rebels. This morning Pascagoula cornerback (and standout center fielder) Senquez Golson committed to the Rebels.
Later this afternoon, Ole Miss picked up its second commitment of the day — and 12th for the 2010 signing class — when Gadsden City, Ala. receiver T.J. Worthy pledged his verbal commitment to the Rebels. Just before 7 p.m. the Rebels picked up their third commitment of the day, this time from Raleigh defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton.

Mississippi players flocking to Rebels
It was a little over two years ago when Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt pledged to every Rebel fan that he and his staff would do everything they possibly could to sign more players from the state of Mississippi.
After inking just four high school players from the state in each of his first two classes, Nutt started to show that he and his staff were making traction in the state by signing seven players in the 2010 class. While back-to-back wins in the Cotton Bowl have made things even more attractive for recruits to want to attend Ole Miss, the relationships that Nutt, recruiting coordinator Chris Vaughn, running backs coach Derrick Nix and other coaches have built with players and coaches in the state has really started to pay dividends. LB Mayers makes No. 9
Just one day after landing Raleigh receiver Donte Moncrief, the Rebels added another commitment for the 2011 signing class. According to The Blog’s friends over at OMSpirit.com and RebelGrove.com, Taylorsville outside linebacker Marcus Mayers committed to Ole Miss this morning.
