      LHS’s Dennis excited to join Lambuth

      A chance to play a new position, as well as play for a four-year school relatively close to home, is what made Lafayette’s Austin Dennis chose Lambuth University Wednesday on National Signing Day. Dennis, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound tackle for the Class 4A state champion Commodores this season, said he was excited about the opportunity to play for the Jackson, Tenn., based school and play for Ron Dickerson, Sr., a well respected coach who was the head coach at Temple University. (February 3, 2011, Page 8)

        Hyland adds versatility to NWCC’s class

        One of the most unsung members of Lafayette’s Class 4A state champion football team was senior offensive lineman Adam Hyland. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder not only helped lead the team’s outstanding offensive line at center, but he served another important role as the Commodores’ long snapper.           SIGNING DAY CENTRAL: Rebs sign 22

          Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt and his staff got National Signing Day off to a great start today as they received letters of intent from 18 players. Leading the list of standout players from Mississippi were South Panola wide receiver Nickolas Brassell (6-foot-1, 175 pounds, 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash), Philadelphia linebacker C.J. Johnson (6-3, 243, 4.63), Madison Central wideout Tobias Singleton (6-0, 185, 4.38) and Raleigh wide receiver Donte Moncrief (6-2, 200). (more…) (February 2, 2011, Page 6)

            National Signing Day less than 24 hours away

            Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt and his staff have spent the past year trying to convince the best players in the state and nation to come and play for the Rebels.                 SPORTS EDITOR BLOG —ESPN’s  Jamie Newberg, who many remember from his TV show ‘Countdown to Signing Day,’ has been evaluating recruiting classes for close to 20 years.
