OMS boys sweep Olive Branch

Oxford got its Thanksgiving break off to a good start Monday thanks to a doubleheader sweep of Olive Branch in middle school basketball action at the OHS gym.

Rebel men hold off TCU at Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — Murphy Holloway scored 20 points to lead Ole Miss to an 80-69 victory over TCU on Monday night in the third-place game of the Paradise Jam.

Ole Miss (4-1) also got 14 points from Jarvis Summers and 11 points apiece from Terrance Henry and Dundrecous Nelson.

Byrd’s double-double lifts Lady Rebels past SEMO

Cape Girardeau, Mo .—The Ole Miss women’s basketball team beat Southeast Missouri State 51-43 Monday night, behind Nikki Byrd’s second consecutive double-double.

LSU coach Les Miles may have decided Saturday’s game with Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was over with five minutes left in the contest when he instructed quarterback Zach Mettenberger to kneel the ball four straight times instead of score another touchdown from the Ole Miss 1-yard line. Marquette’s Crowder too much for Ole Miss Rebs

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) — Going up against its best opponent thus far in the season, Ole Miss knew it would have to control the transition game and shoot well. The Rebels weren’t even close.

Defense, free-throw shooting pace Lady Rebs in win

An outstanding defensive effort and some timely baskets late inside from Nikki Byrd proved to be the difference for the Ole Miss Lady Rebels in their 54-45 win over South Alabama Friday evening at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.

Ole Miss (2-1 overall) bounced back from its loss to Lamar by shutting down the Lady Jaguars (2-1) on defense. USA only shot 25.8 percent from the field, while leading scorer, Camille Reynolds, was held 17 points below her season average thanks to a great individual effort on defense by Amber Singletary. (November 21, 2011, Page 2B)
