A lot on line for Rebels in series with AU Tigers

So it all comes down to this.

The No. 17 Ole Miss Rebel baseball team has a lot at stake this weekend.

Not only would a successful series against No. 16 Auburn (36-17 overall, 17-10 in the Southeastern Conference) help the Rebels (36-17, 16-11) earn at least a piece of the SEC’s Western Division title, but it would also help their chances of hosting an NCAA Tournament Regional for the second straight year. (May 20, 2010, Page 6)

Rebels looking to regain confidence on offense

Grip it and rip it; hit the ball HARD, as hard as you can.

That, in essence, was Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco’s message to his team before it took batting practice on Monday at Oxford-University Stadium.

Bianco wasn’t looking for home runs per say — although outfielder Matt Smith apparently hit a ball off the top of the batter’s eye in center field — but he was hoping the power exercise will help get his team out of its current offensive funk. (May 19, 2010, Page 6)
