    Oxford’s Kendricks sets record at LSU

    Oxford High track standout Sam Kendricks set a new OHS indoor pole vault record of 14 feet, 6 inches at the the LSU High School Indoor Invitational Saturday. The previous record was shared both by Joseph Stevens and Kelly Drewery. Kendricks finished third overall in the competition against the most elite vaulters in the nation and he is currently ranked 19th in the nation for all vaulters.       Lady Commodores fall to Byhalia

      Lafayette’s girls basketball team lost its second district game in the same week Friday with a 58-51 setback to Byhalia. Nikki McChristian led LHS with a double-double (11 points and 11 rebounds), while Brianna Fisher had 13 points and five rebounds. (more…) (January 10, 2011, Page 7)

              Ole Miss faces tough test at UF

              An opportunity to earn a rare road win and gain a tremendous boost in the RPI is what the Ole Miss Rebels and head coach Andy Kennedy are hoping to gain in the Southeastern Conference opener at Florida Saturday.

              Ole Miss (12-3 overall) will be opening the SEC season on the road for the 10th time in the last 13 seasons and facing arguably the best team in the SEC in the Gators, who are 11-3 and coming off two impressive wins over Xavier and Rhode Island. (January 7, 2011, Page 6A)

                  Lady Rebels hoping to use speed to top UT

                  Size versus speed — that’s one of the ways the Ole Miss women’s basketball team is viewing its matchup against No. 5 Tennessee on Sunday.

                  A week ago, it was Ole Miss’ team speed and ability to flip the court that made the difference in it’s come-from-behind victory over Vanderbilt.

                  This weekend, the Lady Rebels (8-5 overall, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) will once again need to rely on their quickness if they want to have a chance at upsetting the Lady Vols (13-2, 1-0) in Knoxville, Tenn. (January 7, 2011, Page 7A)
