OHS’ Flesher chooses Carleton College
For Oxford tennis player Felicity Flesher, it was a trip up North to Minnesota that allowed her decision selecting a college, and also playing tennis, a lot easier.
Flesher, who will help the Chargers in a third consecutive state title tomorrow against Neshoba Central, is headed to play tennis at Division III Carleton College. (April 22, 2010, Page 7)

Crouse, Smith shine in win over USM
For the second time in the last four games, Ole Miss starting pitchers have gone deep into games without surrendering a hit, but fell just short of tallying the Rebel program’s fifth no-hitter and first since Russ Johnson’s in 1966.
On Friday, Ole Miss ace Drew Pomeranz took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before having it broken up by a bunt single.
During Ole Miss’ 7-2 victory over Southern Miss on Tuesday at Oxford-University Stadium, left-hander Matt Crouse had his bid broken in the top of the sixth when a pop-up from Southern Miss catcher Travis Graves dropped in for a hit between Alex Yarbrough and Miles Hamblin behind the first base bag. Blue Devils’ Jenkins signs with Rangers
Three seasons of hard work on the baseball diamond paid off for Water Valley pitcher/infielder Shanquayle Jenkins Tuesday when he signed a scholarship offer to play for Northwest Mississippi Community College. Jenkins became the second Blue Devil this season to sign with the Rangers, joining shortstop Josh Johnson, and the seventh from WVHS to sign with NWCC since the end of the 2006 season. OHS makes clean sweep at 1-5A tennis tournament
The Oxford tennis team took its dominance to the Division 1-5A Tournament held at Itawamba Community College on Tuesday, sweeping the competition by going 16-0 in two rounds of matches. In fact, the Chargers combined to only drop nine points combined. (April 21, 2010, Page 8)
Charger golfers grind it out to make state
A preseason goal of the Oxford boys golf team was obtained Tuesday at the Country Club of Oxford. The Chargers shot a 354 as a team in the District 2-5A Tournament, advancing to the Class 5A state tournament next month in Tupelo.
Saltillo won the match with a 339, while New Hope was second with a 347. Hernando just missed making it to Tupelo with a 358, while Lake Cormorant and West Point rounded out the team scores with a 466 and 454 respectively. (April 21, 2010, Page 9)
