OMS boys’ streak snapped

OMS BOYS STREAK SNAPPED: The Oxford Middle School boys track team had its streak snapped on Thursday at the OMS Track Invitational held at Bobby Holcomb Field.         Being reminded that the simpler, the better

        FISHIN’ WITH CHICK COLUMN — The biggest fishing news I have to share with you is that my youngest daughter Alivia caught her first fish last Saturday with her grandfather at Grenada spillway.  She called and excitedly said,” Daddy, Daddy, now you have something to write about in your article!”  I can promise you she was no more excited than I was that day.  After I got off the phone, I started thinking about how simple the whole concept of catching a fish was to her, and I was reminded how we as adults complicate everything. (April 1, 2010, Page 6)

              Where did that guy come from?

              NASCAR COLUMN — There are a few young and inexperienced drivers that seem to have come out of nowhere this year. Maybe there were a few new guys you saw last year in the starting lineup, but that was their few seconds of press time. It’s amazing what a single offseason and one more year of experience will give a driver. Can these young drivers hold on to make the Chase or will they take up their previous ways and race to the back of the pack? (March 31, 2010, Page 9)

                  Huggins explodes for 5 goals in U12 Earthquakes win

                  Preston Huggins didn’t hold anything back in his Under-12 soccer match on Tuesday, scoring five goals to lift the Earthquakes to a 7-2 win over the Crew during Tuesday’s Oxford Park Commission soccer action. In the other U12 boys game, the Tornados and Wizards tied 2-2. In the U10 boys league, the Dynamo blanked the Galaxy 1-0 and the Sounders blitzed the Fire 5-0.                     Lafayette Middle School earns first round bye
