          Gordon appears to be recharged

NASCAR COLUMN — Welcome back, Jeff Gordon.

I haven’t seen a fire like this in him since his last championship run in 2001. Yes, he has been close in previous seasons (3rd in 2009, 2nd in 2007, 3rd in 2004) but it seems like his tenacity has returned as well as his drive to win. I don’t think Gordon is returning to the scene to the same hate that fans had towards him when he arrived in NASCAR. The fans are happy to see him extremely competitive this year so maybe he can knock off the current champion. (May 5, 2010, Page 10)

Remember – it’s fishin’, not catchin’

FISHIN’ WITH CHICK — I have a good friend, Kenny Stack, in South Dakota whose family farm adjoined my grandfather’s farm. We hunt every October and November together. He knows that each time I leave Mississippi to drive a thousand miles to Letcher, South Dakota, my goal is to kill every pheasant there. (May 4, 2010, Page 9)
