    Razorbacks take two, keep Rebels from SEC Tourney

    FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Ole Miss fell a win short of making this week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament after being swept at No. 30 Arkansas in two seven inning games on Saturday at Baum Stadium.

          Lafayette’s Hollis wins MVP award

          Led by Corey Hollis as the District 2-4A MVP, six Lafayette Lady Commodores were selected the All-District team recently. Joining Hollis on the team were Kelsey Kesler, M.C. Pate, Cameron Mize, Rae Drewrey, Avery McCullough and Kendall Glass as an honorable mention. (May 23, 2011, Page 7)

            Rebels hold on to win pitching duel

            It was a pitcher’s duel from the start between the Rebels and Razorbacks on Thursday night, and though the Rebels blinked first, it was Ole Miss (30-23, 13-15 SEC) that came out on top with timely hitting in a 2-1 win over Arkansas (34-18, 13-15 SEC) at Baum Stadium.               RHP Hensley has Ole Miss among top 3

              Gavin Cecchini has turned from the recruited to the recruiter.

                Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament staying put in Hoover

                The Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament won’t be leaving Hoover, Ala., anytime soon.

                On Thursday the conference announced that it has reached an agreement with the Alabama Sports Foundation and the city of Hoover that will keep the tournament locked in to Regions Park until 2016. (more…) (May 20, 2011, Page 6A)

                  U-9 Giants hold on to defeat Yankees

                  Thanks to three runs in the bottom of the fourth, the Under-9 Gilliland Orthodontics Giants were able to sneak past the Davis Logistics Yankees 12-11 during Thursday’s Oxford Park Commission baseball action at FNC Park.

                  In the lone 11-12 league game the Old Taylor Antiques Giants held on the top the Bank of Oxford Yankees  9-6, and in the 13-14 league the Farese Family Dental Brewers cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Braves. (May 20, 2011, Page 7A)
