Oxford’s Kendricks wins UK Invitational

Oxford High standout pole vaulter Sam Kendricks continued to shine during the indoor season over the weekend by winning the University of Kentucky High School Invitational with a leap of 15 feet, 6 inches.

Kendricks’ latest performance landed him No. 17 in the nation according to dyestate.com. The mark sets a new record in the state of Mississippi from an indoor standpoint. According to OHS coach Scott Kendricks, the competition came to an exciting climax when Sam cleared the 15-6 attempt and another vaulter, Nikita Kirillov failed to clear the height.         Crouse turns successful offseason into Friday night role for Rebels

        There’s been plenty of questions surrounding the Ole Miss baseball team heading into today’s season opener against Wright State.

        What hasn’t been in question? Who is taking the place of top draft pick Drew Pomeranz as the Friday night starter.

        That honor goes to junior left-hander Matt Crouse, and apparently the choice to go with the Virginian was an obvious one. (February 18, 2011, Page 6A)

          Jenkins, Byrd unable to lift OM past Hogs

          The last three games without senior Kayla Melson have been a struggle for the Ole Miss women’s basketball team.
          Mark Thursday’s 56-53 loss to Arkansas at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum as No. 4.
