Just moments after the Oxford lost to West Point 22-20 during the regular season, Chargers coach Johnny Hill told his team that he thought they would see the Green Wave again in the playoffs and at home no less.

The Oxford Lady Chargers soccer team earned a 4-0 win over New Albany Tuesday night. Mary Helen Rychlak led the team with two goals scored. Maggie Mitchell added a goal off an assist from Maia Cotelo, while seventh-grader Zoe Scruggs added the final goal. Emily Meadows had three saves in goal for the Lady Chargers, while Megan Murphy also had a save in the split shutout. (November 17, 2010, Page 7)
The Oxford Middle School girls and boys basketball teams earned four wins combined over Water Valley on Tuesday night. The seventh-grade girls beat Water Valley 36-12, while the eighth-graders won 31-12.

In the other games from the one-day tournament, Ripley defeated Magnolia Heights 71-47, Marshall Academy beat Lewisburg 61-31, Hernando topped Jackson Prep 64-62 in overtime, while Madison Ridgeland Academy beat Pontotoc 51-46. It doesn’t matter that the last time the Oxford Chargers and Pearl Pirates faced one another was a year ago. The Chargers’ 28-14 loss is still fresh in their minds and head coach Johnny Hill has made sure that his team learns from the past.
Sure, then-junior quarterback Guy Cameron Billups had suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand the week prior and as such his throwing ability was inhibited by a cast.
