Chargers overcome cold to finish 3-0 in Amory

Cold winter weather wasn’t enough to slow down the Oxford baseball from winning three games in the Amory Tournament. The Chargers improved to 5-1 on the season thanks to three wins in the tournament. Oxford defeated Tupelo 6-4 Friday night and then defeated East Union 4-2 and Itawamba AHS 5-4 on Saturday.

      Chargers hope to be contenders again

      Oxford boys track coach Chris Bush has a positive feeling heading into the start of the season leading the Chargers for the first time. Thanks to a deep roster and some experienced talent coming back, the Chargers could be a contender for a Class 5A state title if everything continues to come together.

          Chargers hold on to top North Pontotoc

          Two postponed dates in the Pontotoc Tournament weren’t enough to deter the Oxford Chargers from earning their second win of the 2013 season Wednesday. The Chargers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on North Pontotoc in the first inning and then broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh en route to a 5-4 win over the Vikings at Pontotoc High.             Chargers blank Braves in opener

            The Oxford Chargers got their 2013 tennis season off to a good start with a 7-0 win over Alcorn Central at Avent Park Tuesday. In boys singles, Quinn Elliott blanked Tayton Smith 6-0, 6-0, while Grace Ann Jones defeated Anna Bowling 6-0, 6-1 in girls singles.

                    Lady Chargers ready to start new era, season

                    Oxford’s third annual Charger Classic begins today with a new coach, Steve Blackmon, leading the way. Blackmon, a veteran baseball coach who was most recently assisting baseball coach Chris Baughman, said his transition to softball has been good but a lot about learning.
