        Area prep teams look to get back on track

        All three area high school football teams will be trying to get back in the win column tonight after suffering setbacks last week. Two of them will attempt to do it on the road as Oxford makes the trek to Cleveland to take on East Side while Water Valley travels to Calhoun City. Lafayette will stay at home for the third straight week, looking for its first win of the year against DeSoto Central. (September 5, 2014, Page 6)

              Yellowjackets rout Oxford in rivalry tussle

              The Little Egg Bowl Trophy is going back to Starkville. The high school version of the state’s annual football rivalry took center stage at Bobby Holcomb Field on Friday night, but No. 3 Starkville quickly turned No. 2 Oxford’s home opener into a one-sided affair. The Yellowjackets (2-0) forced turnovers on Oxford’s first two possessions, turned them into 10 points and never let up, avenging last year’s 35-24 loss to the Chargers (1-1) with a 52-29 victory. (September 1, 2014, Page 6)

                    Oxford, Starkville set for top 5 showdown

                    The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Oxford this week. After tuning up for the regular season with a scrimmage against South Panola and holding on for 26-21 win over defending MAIS AAA champ Jackson Prep in their opener last week, the Chargers will open the home portion of their slate with a date against Starkville in the Little Egg Bowl on Friday at 7 p.m. (August 28, 2014, Page 6)
