No one can ever accuse OHS coach Johnny Hill and the Chargers of taking it easy in pre-region games. This season, Oxford opens with defending MAIS champ Jackson Prep and follows with MHSAA Class 5A champion Starkville, a very athletic Cleveland East Side team and Class 4A power and crosstown rival Lafayette. HATTIESBURG—If first-year Southern Miss football coach Todd Monken has his way, the battle to be the team’s starting quarterback this season will be a short one.
