Tennis complex expansion to be on Tuesday’s agenda
Discussion on the expansion of the John Leslie tennis complex is expected to continue on Tuesday at the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors meeting. The committee that has helped raise awareness for the tennis project was scheduled to be on the board’s agenda. Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the chancery court Building. Golf camp at Country Club of Oxford
Junior golfers of all ages can learn valuable skills at two summer camps offered at the Country Club of Oxford. Ricky Hamilton, head golf professional, and assistant Todd Abbott will lead the camps and instruct young golfers on various aspects of the game such as fundamentals, chipping, putting, full swing and etiquette. Oxford adults capture tennis title
An 4.0 tennis team from Oxford won the United States Tennis Association Adult League Championship Sunday in Biloxi. Pamela Grafton’s Jackson team defeated Jackson 3-2 to capture the title and did not drop a match on the way to the championship. (more…) (June 13, 2011, Page 7)
11-12 Giants win title with lopsided victory
The Old Taylor Antique Giants wrapped up the title in the Oxford Park Commission’s 11-12 year-old league with a 15-5 win over the Bank of Oxford Yankees at FNC Park on Tuesday. In the other 11-12 game, the Smoothie King Phillies edged the Hunter’s Hollow Braves 7-6. In the 9-year-old league, the Oxford Plastic Surgery Red Sox nipped the Holcomb Dunbar Cardinals 6-5, while the Ligon Oral Surgery Rangers beat Larson’s Big Star Phillies 19-11. In the 10-year-old league, the First National Bank Tigers edged the Rayner Eye Clinic Braves 11-10. (June 9, 2011, Page 6)
Moore leads Chandler past Community Trust
Halee Moore struck out eight batters and had a big night at the plate to lead Chandler Motors to a 9-3 win over Community Trust Bank in Oxford Park Commission youth softball action at FNC Park on Tuesday night. Late rally lifts U-9 Red Sox
