Herod’s 18 points lift 11-12 Lakers past Bulls

Aliyah Herod scored 18 points to lead the 11-12 Lakers to a 33-31 win over the Bulls Thursday night in Oxford Park Commission youth basketball. In the other 11-12 games, the Celtics edged the Heat 26-23, while the Suns defeated the Thunder 37-29. In the 13-15 league, the Celtics beat the Heat 37-26, while the Grizzlies defeated Lakers 42-33. In the lone 9-10 game, the Lakers beat the Grizzlies 21-12. (January 14, 2011, Page 8A)

      Oxford Rebels holding tryouts

        OPC spring soccer registration

          Registration for the Oxford Park Commission’s spring baseball league is underway. The cost to participate is $50 and the league ranges from age 5 to 15.             Faulkner leads OPC Lakers past Bulls in nail biter

            Lamarcus Faulkner scored nine points to help lead the 9-10 year-old Lakers to a 19-17 win over the Bulls in Oxford Park Commission youth basketball action.

            In two 7-8 games, the Lakers defeated the Heat 18-4, while the Jazz beat the Bulls 18-13. (January 5, 2011, Page 7)

              Burts combine for 31 points, lift 13-15 Celtics past Grizz

              Kemarcus Burt and Shaun Burt combined to score 31 points in the 13-15 Celtics’ 52-46 win over the Grizzlies Thursday night.

              In the other Oxford Park Commission 13-15 game, the Lakers beat the Heat 44-34. In the 7-8 league, the Grizzlies edged the Celtics 16-14.

              In the 9-10 league, the Thunder edged the Heat 29-28, while the Celtics beat the Grizzlies 26-11.

              In the 11-12 league, the Suns beat the Heat 42-26, the Grizzlies edged the Thunder 32-30 in overtime, while the Celtics beat the Bulls 29-22. (December 17, 2010, Page 7A)

                Miller’s 24 lifts 13-15 Lakers past Grizz

                Led by James Miller’s 24 points, the 13-15 Lakers were able to defeat the Grizzlies 38-26 Thursday night in Oxford Park Commission youth basketball action. In the other 13-15 game, the Celtics pounded the Heat 44-26. In the lone 9-10 game, the Grizzlies edged out the Heat 18-15. In the 11-12 league, the Grizzlies beat the Celtics 26-21, the Bulls edged the Heat 28-25, while the Lakers edged out the Thunder 34-31. (December 10, 2010, Page 7A)

                  A complete team effort lifts 7-8 Jazz to victory

                  Six players scored for the Oxford Park Commission’s 7-8 year-old Jazz, as hoops squad topped the Heat on Tuesday 22-2.

                  Channing Berry led the Jazz with eight points. In other 7-8 game on Tuesday, the Lakers topped the Grizzlies 24-6, while in the 9-10 league Grizzlies snuck past the Mavericks 8-7. On Monday in the 7-8 league, the Thunder topped the Bulls 12-10 and the Celtics beat the Suns 10-4. In the 9-10 league, the Thunder beat the Bulls 19-16. (December 1, 2010, Page 7)

                    Three teams win title sin OPC football

                    The 10-12 Bears, the 8-9 Ravens and the 6-7 Jaguars all won respective titles in the inagural Mayors Championship Series held Monday night at FNC Park. The series culminated action in the Oxford Park Commission youth flag football leagues.

                    The Jaguars defeated the Bears 21-14, the Ravens downed the Chiefs 20-6, while the Bears got by the Giants 18-14.

                    In games leading up to Monday’s championship, the Ravens topped the Saints 18-13, while the Chiefs defeated the Raiders 19-13 in the 8-9 league. In the two 10-12 league games, the Bears beat the Steelers 19-6, while the Giants edged the Cowboys 13-12. (November 16, 2010, Page 4B)
