Nelson stifles Ole Miss’ bats in 4-1 win

TUSCALOOSA — What a difference a year can make. Last year, Alabama pitcher Jimmy Nelson was the goat on Friday night for the Crimson Tide, blowing a two-run lead in the ninth to lose 8-7.

For Ole Miss, this weekend’s series is about trying to stay in the fight for the Southeastern Conference Western Division title. For Alabama, it’s about keeping a spot in the SEC Tournament. (May 14, 2010, Page 6A)

                  Pomeranz says pectoral a non-issue

The microscope is obviously on Drew Pomeranz.

Ole Miss’ junior ace showed a dip in his velocity last weekend in his start against Arkansas, which raised eyebrows not only amongst Rebel fans, but also with baseball people across the nation due to his high projections in this June’s draft. (May 12, 2010, Page 8)

No. 13 Rebels lose battle for SEC West lead

The most recent battle may have been lost, but the war for the Southeastern Conference’s Western Division title is far from over.

On Sunday, Razorback right-hander Mike Bolsinger led the charge in Arkansas’ 7-0 victory over Ole Miss.

Two days after allowing two runs in 1.1 innings of relief work, Bolsinger — who had began the year as Arkansas’ Friday night starter — was able to keep the Ole Miss bats at bay, surrendering just two hits in 8.0 innings while striking out a career-high 11 batters. (May 10, 2010, Page 1B)
