Alabama tops Rebels to remain in winner’s bracket
HOOVER, Ala. — For the second time this season Alabama starter Nathan Kilcrease has pitched into the ninth in a winning effort against the Rebels.

Day 2: Alabama-Ole Miss Game Blog
HOOVER, Ala. — Live from Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., for Day 2 of the Southeastern Conference’s SEC Tournament. Game 7 pits Ole Miss (37-20 overall) and Alabama (35-21). Great pitching, timely hitting lift Rebs past USC
Drew Pomeranz showed why he was named pitcher of the year as he threw seven shutout innings for Ole Miss in Wednesday’s opener with South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala. Reliver Brett Huber finished the game for a save and Miles Hamblin’s two-run homer in the third inning was the big blast in the Rebels’ 3-0 victory.
Ole Miss joined Alabama, LSU and Vanderbilt as opening-day winners in the tournament at Regions Park. The Rebels will play Alabama today at 4:30 p.m. The winner will get Friday off, while the loser will face the Auburn-South Carolina winner in a 3 p.m. contest Friday. (May 27, 2010, Page 6)
Pomeranz named SEC Pitcher of Year
HOOVER, Ala. — Drew Pomeranz’s mantle must be running out of space.
On Tuesday, the left-hander became the first Rebel to be named the Southeastern Conference’s Pitcher of the Year. The SEC’s announcement comes one day after the junior was awarded the Ferriss Trophy, which goes to the Magnolia State’s top collegiate baseball player. (May 26, 2010, Page 6A)

HOOVER, Ala. — Ole Miss junior pitcher Drew Pomeranz was announced as the Southeastern Conference’s Pitcher of the Year on Tuesday, becoming the first Rebel to ever win the award.

Pomeranz named Mississippi’s best
Ole Miss left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz was named the 2010 winner of the Cellular South Ferriss Trophy awarded annually to the top collegiate baseball player in the state of Mississippi. Pomeranz is the fourth Rebel to win the award. (May 25, 2010, Page 8)
Belcher gets nod against Rebs
The Ole Miss Rebels and South Carolina Gamecocks both had chances to claim division titles going into the last weekend of the regular season, and both came up short. Now, the two teams square off in the first round of the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.
The coaching staffs of the two programs are taking different approaches to the SEC tournament. USC is holding its top two pitchers to keep them on the regular schedule heading into the NCAA Regionals, while Mike Bianco isn’t holding anything back and will send ace Drew Pomeranz to the mound Wednesday afternoon. The Ole Miss Rebel baseball team got a day off Sunday after getting swept by Auburn to end the regular season, and the coaching staff and players hope they will take a new approach, particularly at the plate, when they travel to Hoover, Ala., for the SEC Tournament that begins Wednesday. AU puts on hitting clinic in sweep

Following No. 16 Auburn’s 11-1 victory at Oxford-University Stadium that wrapped up a three-game sweep of No. 17 Ole Miss, the normally jovial Smith looked like he — and the rest of the Rebels — had just been put through the wringer.
During Auburn’s first sweep in Oxford since the 1976 season, the Tigers outscored Ole Miss 34-8.
“Obviously we didn’t swing it well and it can’t get much worse than what you saw this weekend,” said Smith, whose Rebels have scored a total of 24 runs in their last three conference series. “I don’t think you can put your finger on one thing in particular. We just didn’t hit, that’s the bottom line.” (May 24, 2010, Page 1B)
Tigers finish off sweep of Rebels
If there was any doubt the No. 16 Auburn Tigers could swing the bat, they obliterated it this weekend. After claiming games one and two against No. 17 Ole Miss at Oxford-University Stadium, the Tigers made it a clean sweep by winning Game 3 11-1.
