From an Ole Miss perspective there wasn’t a lot of positives to take away from Tuesday’s 9-2 loss to Memphis at AutoZone Park.
After a scoreless first inning, the Rebels (19-11 overall) surrendered six runs in the second inning and never came close to challenging for the lead. (April 6, 2011, Page 6)
There was the good: Randall Mackey showed consistency passing the ball, the defense provided a constant presence in the offensive backfield, the tight ends looked like reliable targets, head coach Houston Nutt said he liked the attitudes he saw from the defense and incumbent kicker Bryson Rose connected on all four field goals from 40 yards and beyond. The 2010 season was disappointing not only for the Ole Miss defense as a whole, but specifically Wayne Dorsey.
Prior to the season a lot was made of Dorsey transferring to Ole Miss from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
