Missy Dickerson fired; Ole Miss begins softball coaching search

Ole Miss officials announced on Monday that the contract of softball head coach Missy Dickerson would not be renewed.

“I would like to thank Missy for the time and effort she put into the Ole Miss Softball program,” said Ole Miss Executive Associate Athletic Director Lynnette Johnson. “We will begin the search for a replacement immediately.”

During her six seasons in Oxford, Dickerson led Rebels to the first three SEC Tournament appearances in school history and posted just the second winning season ever at Ole Miss with a 29-27 mark in 2010. She finished her Ole Miss career with a record of 140-193 and a mark of 48-118 in SEC play.

She holds a 252-249 record in nine seasons as a head coach, including three seasons at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Ole Miss closed out the 2011 campaign with a 14-39 mark and posted a 3-23 record in league play. (May 10, 2011)

No surprise: Rebs named to NCAA Tournament

The Ole Miss men’s golf program has gotten to the point where the squad doesn’t get excited when it merely hears “Ole Miss” called over the NCAA Tournament teleconference.

On Monday, the team, gathered at head coach Ernest Ross’ house, listened on as the Rebels were announced as the eight seed in the Virginia Tech Region, played at the Pete Dye River Course at Radford, Va.

There were no overt celebrations or cheers, just a few fist pumps and smiles were all that was needed from the Rebels, who have now made five consecutive tournaments. (May 10, 2011, Page 7)

Morgan gives Rebs reason to celebrate

COLUMN: It was quite a sight to watch from the press box at Oxford-University Stadium.

For a team that quite frankly hasn’t had a lot to get excited about this season, taking the series from a South Carolina squad that hasn’t lost one since the end of last season was a big deal. (more…) (May 9, 2011, Page 4B)
