Rebels needed to achieve…
Ole Miss came into Saturday night’s game with Tulane at the Louisiana Superdome needing a win in a major way.

Rebs still looking to put four quarters together
An inability to make plays on offense or defense in the third quarter reared its ugly head again for the Ole Miss Rebels Saturday night against Tulane. While the miscues didn’t end up leading to a second-straight come-from-behind win for the opponent, the Rebels were visibly stagnant on offense and unable to slow down the Green Wave on defense coming out of halftime.
Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said he wasn’t as worried about the third quarter lull because the Rebels held on to win this week, but it’s obvious more has to be done to prevent a slow start in the second half with Vanderbilt on the horizon. (September 13, 2010, Page 2B)
Quick strikes doom Lady Rebels…
The Memphis Tigers showed why they’re ranked No. 20 in the country on Sunday at the Ole Miss Soccer Complex. After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, the Tigers wasted no time surging past the Lady Rebels in the second half, scoring two goals in three minutes en route to a 2-1 victory. Lady Rebels take Magnolia Invitational
After going to five sets against both Southern Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette, the Ole Miss Lady Rebels made quick work of the Samford Lady Bulldogs on Saturday night, claiming their fourth consecutive Magnolia Invitational with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-20) victory.
Head coach Joe Getzin said the key to the match was the team’s ability to clean up its play on its own side of the court.
In the three sets against Samford, Ole Miss had just 14 attack errors, compared to Samford’s 24. (September 13, 2010, Page 5B)
Rebels looking for a little redemption
A chance at redemption is what the Ole Miss Rebels are looking to accomplish Saturday night in their second game of the year at Tulane.
It’s been a tough week of practice for the Rebels, who suffered national embarrassment last Saturday by losing 49-48 to Football Championship Subdivision member Jacksonville State at home. (September 10, 2010, Page 6A)

Ole Miss has won the last nine meetings, dating back to 1988.
Tulane scored the rare season opening win for its program with a 27-21 win over neighbor Southeastern Louisiana last Thursday night. With on 252 yards of total offense, the highlight of the night came in the rushing game, led by true freshman Orleans Darkwa (75 yards, 3 TD) and junior Albert Williams (67 yards). Rishaw Johnson dismissed from Ole Miss football team
Following Thursday’s practice Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt confirmed that offensive lineman Rishaw Johnson has been dismissed from the football team and backup linebacker Brandon Sanders has been suspended indefinitely for breaking team rules. (more…) (September 9, 2010)

Ole Miss’ Ingram back at practice
Ole Miss’ beleaguered defense got some more good news Tuesday with the return of free safety Fon Ingram to practice. A day after senior defensive end Kentrell Lockett said he hoped to play against Tulane on Saturday, Ingram told the media that it was his goal to see his first action of the year against the Green Wave as well.
Rebel coach Houston Nutt said it was great to see Ingram, who missed the last half of summer practice and the Jacksonville State game with knee injury, back on the field. (September 8, 2010, Page 8)
Rebs looking to correct mistakes
Complacency and missed assignments seemed to be two of the biggest excuses given during Monday’s press conference with regards to the Rebels’ collapse against Jacksonville State on Saturday.
Several players in attendance said the team became too relaxed with its 21-point lead at half time and in doing so, “let go of the rope.”
Looking back, sophomore linebacker D.T. Shackelford said he hopes the team can learn from its mistakes moving forward. (September 8, 2010, Page 8)
