          Baker motivated to prove critics wrong

          Tyler Baker has a sizable chip that resides squarely on the shoulders of his 5-foot-10, 187-pound frame.

            Kendricks shines at Southern Miss

            Oxford track standout Sam Kendricks set the pole vault record at Southern Miss over the weekend with a jump of 15 feet, 1 inch.  The Ole Miss signee accomplished the feat at the University of Southern Mississippi High School Invitational meet held Friday in Hattiesburg.  Kendricks set the record despite wet conditions and standing water on the runway.               Softball team tops UTEP on Sunday

                    Persson sets new school record

                    Ole Miss’ Sofie Persson broke her own school record in the 800 meters and automatically qualified for next week’s NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at a last-chance qualifier meet hosted by Iowa State on Saturday. Persson broke the record with a winning time of 2 minutes:04.51 seconds, which is under the NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 2:05.00. (more…) (March 7, 2011, Page 8A)
